Installing the Facebook Pixel is easy when you have Google Tag Manager installed to your website.
Go to Events Manager in your Facebook Business Manager account and follow the wizard to setup the Pixel. I’ll be using Google Tag Manager as Partner for the integration.
Now that you have the Facebook Pixel installed, you can verify if the Pixel is working by installing the Facebook Pixel Helper and visit the ‘Test Events’ interface in your Facebook Business Manager.
When your Pixel is working it will automatically fire ‘PageView’ events for each page a visitor is viewing.
When you start advertising you’ll want to optimize and report for specific events. In the video below I want to track ‘Whitepaper downloads’.
I’m using Google Tag Manager to setup this Facebook Event Tag. The ‘ViewContent’ event will now be send to the Facebook Pixel when someone downloads my whitepaper. My tag trigger is based on ‘Click URL contains whitepaper.pdf’.
